The mental exhaustion is from working two jobs, studying some videos to get re-certified in A+, a lot of video gaming (not a bad thing!!), and not enough sleep. “Burning the candle at both ends.”
Speaking of gaming, Baldur’s Gate 3 continues to remain amazingly fun. I’ve started using a few mods – mainly, class mods, new dice, and one or two race mods – and they have added a ton of replay value. And I haven’t even attempted some of the harder Game Modes!
I have managed to keep my blood sugar in the 110-130 range, for the last month and a half, even on a reduced Metformin dosage. I would like to get it to under 100, and keep it there, until my next checkup in August. It’s very doable!
It is the 5-year anniversary of Breonna Taylor’s murder by Louisville Metro Police and George Floyd’s murder by Minneapolis Police. Hard to tell if there’s been any true reform in LMPD, since they are on their 3rd Police Chief in less than 3 years. The Department of Justice cracked down on LMPD hard, but agreements and policies between the DOJ and LMPD were overturned by the Trump administration.
Speaking of Trump, I like how a member of the Press called him out on his “talk tough, back off when someone pushes back” tariff (and basically everything else) policies. Poor Trump got offended; it doesn’t feel good when someone name calls you and throws accusations in your face, does it?
It’s time to get back to reading and listening to books! The last 3 months, I’ve focused more on D&D Actual Play Podcasts; while enjoyable, I need to dive into a good, long story without dice rolls. 😉
I did a thing… then undid that thing.
I reinstalled the Tinder app.
I updated my profile, changed a couple of pics, made what I was looking for a little bit clearer (basically: no long-term relationships; anything from new friends to short-term fun is… was… on the table), and generally updated a profile from 2023. I got 7 ‘likes’ (missed 1 ‘match’). Turns out: those were almost certainly ‘bots’. After finding myself checking it twice a day, for nearly 6 weeks, and seeing a lot of similar profiles, I deleted my account again. I now will double-down on a stance I’ve had: if you are a woman and are/might be interested, you make the first move: text, email, Facebook message. And say what you mean and mean what you say! No ‘mixed messages’ or ‘hinting at this or that’, please!!
Samsung had a massive update for my phone, a few weeks ago. I like most of the new User Interface, although I’m still not 100% where everything is, now. I did NOT like how many games and bloatware apps were also added. If I wanted a clone of Candy Crush, I’d simply go to the Google Play Store and download it myself.
I’ve really enjoyed this cool spell in late May. While I also like the summer, I could do without the insane humidity, especially when the temperatures go above 90 degrees F.
