DAY Walk: Is the ‘Season of Discontent’ Over?

As we are in a ‘slowish’ period at my main job, I’ll take a mental stroll in the daylight. Weird, I know.

Vacation realistically started on 7/29, 2:30 PM, when I got off of work. The 29th was also my birthday. My birthday, plus the next 12 days, were pretty low-key, for the most part. I finished 2 books, started a 3rd, and restarted a 4th; I’m hoping to finish those 2 books by mid-September. I also got to check the University of Louisville’s Marching Band and their ‘Community Day’ performance. They looked and sounded pretty good, especially for how early in the season it was for them! Other than that, I just wanted to rest my eyes (it happened!) and recharge (mixed results). I have enough PTO left over take a few more days off before the end of the year, but I have no real plans for when/if I’ll use them.

I am an online Data Analyst – AI Division – at my second job. I generally work a few hours a week, since there are no set hours or minimum hours requirement. I earn enough to pay on a large bill every month. It feels like the job is shifting from fact-checking, analyzing user patterns on iPhones, and checking for proper behind-the-scenes tags on Wikipedia to analyzing and rating AI speech patterns, and analyzing podcast snippets for sensitive material (my company plans on streaming podcasts in the future). I’m a little more enthusiastic about the podcast tasks than the others.

Also during vacation, a potential intimate afternoon with a long-time old friend fell through (we agreed that sex was not happening but most anything else was on the table). No worries, it got rescheduled… then cancelled again. Then rescheduled/cancelled 3 more times in August. At this point, between that, a couple of ‘ghostings’, and the Tinder non-responses/’bot likes’, it has got to be me and something I’m doing (or not doing?). I know that, at this moment, I’m not looking for something long-term or serious… maybe I’m not looking in the right places? and NO, I will not follow the latest viral trend and try an AI relationship…! ๐Ÿ˜‰

I will have my general checkup in a couple of weeks. My INR was a little high, about 2 weeks ago, but it can be brought back down to normal fairly easily. The major heat wave that hit Louisville in July was the main culprit for the high INR.

Rest easy, all of you who complained about the ‘woke’ Cracker Barrel and the ‘woke’ signage that it was changing to: Cracker Barrel decided to leave the old logo alone. You can go back to whatever crisis you chosen political affiliation has for you.

This past weekend, I probably had the most fun I’ve had since viewing the Royal Rumble in January! On Saturday, I got to surprise a good friend, when his girlfriend invited me (and a big group of others) to a Birthday Dinner/Laser Tag outing. I went to the dinner but didn’t do Laser Tag (didn’t want to risk my ankle on it); instead, I got to meet and talk to a few of his other friends that didn’t play (about 15 played, 5 of us didn’t). After that, we ate at El Nopal – it was over an hour of good food, ridiculous conversations LOL, and good dessert. Casey was surprised! On Sunday, I met with some friends for Team Trivia. Although we missed 3rd by a point (out of 14 teams), it was a very fun time. Next time, we’ll listen to Amanda on movie and game show questions. ๐Ÿ˜‰

I am still enjoying the Lofi/Boom Bap music kicks I’m on. YouTube has gotten a LOT of play in the last 6 weeks because of it.

The college (and pro) football seasons start this week! I am hoping to get tickets to at least 2 UofL games, this season. If the tickets are not in the upper decks, then even better. I wouldn’t mind going to games with a group of friends but: 1) I have to get most of them out of their homes and 2) I have to be invited. It should be a good season for UofL – they have a good roster returning, plus some new faces coming to the team.

Well, my area is starting to pick up, so it’s time to ‘wander back’ to work. If you have any good DJ, Lofi, or Boom Bap recommendations, let me know.
