So, Patch 8 for Baldur’s Gate 3 is live and it’s been every bit of fun as I thought it would be! I currently have 2 new campaigns going: one is led by a Level 5 (of 12) Mind Weaver (an added class from a community mod), while the other is led by a Level 3 Oath of Vengeance Paladin (1 level)/Blue Draconic Sorcerer (2 levels). I have uploaded some recent plays on YouTube, if you want to check them out:

(there is no audio commentary from me, as I don’t have the free time or money to invest in the equipment to do that). Hope you enjoy them!
From my last post, I thought that a couple of bills might cost me GenCon 2025. 2 days ago, after looking at what I could make and what I owe, that became a reality: no GenCon. Ugh.
My company technically works for the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) but falls under the wide umbrella of Peraton Inc. Last week, our Peraton Division bosses came down to visit us – meetings with our bosses and some KYTC personnel, tour our TOC, and tour parts of then-still-flooded Downtown Louisville. It seems like they liked what they saw in our Ops Center. We also got, announced that week, a slightly larger pay increase; it’s not much (~3.5%) but it breaks the 2-year streak of 2.0%.
Speaking of KYTC, this begins one of the busy parts of the year for us: people coming into town for the Bluegrass Stakes, the Kentucky Oaks, the Kentucky Derby, and all of the events leading up to the Derby. I actually am off on Oaks’ Day (the Friday before the Derby) but had to work today (Saturday). Hopefully, we won’t see any Fatalities, like the motorcyclist on Friday that was thrown from his bike and was “obviously deceased”. 😦
A good set of checkups, this past Wednesday and Thursday. My INR was 3.0 (right on target), my blood pressure and heart rate were in the normal range, and my a1c was down from 11.3 in December to 6.4. I’ll take it!
No, it is not a sin/offense/crime to NOT want kids or a serious relationship in your mid-40s, but DO want a serious make-out session or something else ‘casual’. I have no interest in having kids and any window for a serious relationship for me probably closed while I was living in the Portland neighborhood, 12 years ago. Also, no, a guy does NOT have to be the one to ‘make the first move’.
Yes, the ‘streak’ is over 13 years.
I am always amazed when I go to hang out with two of my best friends in Memphis, IN, at how quiet and dark it is, at night. I have lived near a lot of lights and traffic for most of my life; seeing almost none of either, until I get near the interstate and rest stops, is a pleasant vibe. I see why so many friends like to go camping in the Spring and Summer.
