It’s been an eventful, early vacation for me. I normally try to take a vacation in late December or some time in January, but I was suffering from increasing burnout at work, so I started my vacation on 9/24 (and don’t go back until 10/3).
Currently, the remnants of the devastating hurricane Helene are sitting on top of the Louisville area. It’s unusual for our area to have a storm system hit us as a Tropical Storm but that’s what Helene did on Friday. We’ve had anywhere from 3 to 5 inches of rain, plus wind gusts over 40 MPH; what does that mean for me, specifically? It means a LOT of indoors time today and tomorrow. 😉
That indoor time means a lot of time to play Diablo IV. I’ve started a couple of alts, plus advanced my main character to level 63. I’ve also downloaded some gameplay with him and the new rogue on YouTube:

I’m hoping to get the sorcerer up past level 67 by the end of my vacation, giving me a few days after that before the new DLC releases.
The other main thing I’m doing, or plan on doing, is applying for multiple jobs. I applied for a Remote Data Analyst position at Telus International. I made it to the stage where you take an Assessment Exam but did not pass the 1st attempt. I took the 2nd attempt this afternoon. At worst, if I get this position, it’ll be some extra income (no set amount of hours have to be worked per week). Ideally, it will be a full-time job and I swap my current shift for a part-time, on-call position. I also have a Data Analyst application out with Gainwell Technologies (filled out on Tuesday). After 8+ years, it feels like it’s time to move on from this current job.
I want to finish an Audiobook – “Project Hail Mary”, by Andy Weir – but I can’t seem to get back into it. It is an interesting story but the brain has filed it away in the “To Do Later” in.
Other than the games, book, and job searches, being able to sleep past 5:15 AM without alarm has been great!!
I have 5 full days left to enjoy. My older brother’s birthday celebration, a D&D session, and finding more Halloween music for my Spotify playlist are probably the top 3 things on my to-do list. Let’s hope that I am recharged on 10/3!
